I countersunk the mounting bolt holes to accept 5/8" bungs. I ordered a special 5/8" bung cutter off of Amazon so I could cut my own matching bungs from the left over African Mahogany.
The hand rails are much easier to grab and hold onto if the top is rounded. I got a good block plane and rounded the top edge of the hand rails.
I then sanded it smooth.
Here is the first coat of varnish.
I brought the finished hand rails back to the boat for good this time.
